Our Morgan gelding Scout...the one who
thankfully started me on my journey into natural trimming. Though the pic is hazey since
it was taken at dusk, it's one of my favorites.

I've had this website for a few years now and feel it's time for an overhaul, so
over the next few weeks my wife and I will be doing just that....adding some pages,
pictures, updating information and rearranging some things. Please bear with me
during this process and come back often to see what is new!
On this page I will now be posting any
upcoming events or clinics that I feel may be of interest to you. I had
planned to take the story of how I became a natural trimmer off the site, but was
surprised how many people objected to that idea! So I decided to move it to the
Contact/About Me page instead and you can click there to read it.
I will also be adding a blog...can't promise I will
be able to keep up with it consistantly with my crazy schedule, and most
entries will probably be from my wife (who tells some great stories so that's a good
thing), but I figured some people might enjoy a peek the life of a farrier and those
that love him....even if he smells like sweat and horse feet 90% of the time!
Natural trimming has gained more and more believers
from vets, top trainers and clinicians, farriers, horse owners world wide. Barefoot
horses are competing in every event you can think of and the number is growing.
Horses that are lucky enough to be given the physiologically correct hooves they
need and deserve will have a long lifetime of soundness to show for it.
Why do horse owners need to learn more about their
horses hooves? Isn't that what your farrier is for? Consider that the leading
cause of death in horses is laminitis, second only to colic, and lameness is the leading
health issue equine vets deal with...and considering over 90% of lameness is hoof related,
it stands to reason whether you shoe or not, the more you learn about the equine hoof, the
better off your horse will be.
I hope you'll take some time to consider and
research the subject well. My Articles & Links page is a good place to
start! The more educated you are on this subject the more successful and happy your horse
(and you!) will be!

I'll be having a clinic from 9am-12pm at
7IL Ranch in Cat Spring, TX
( www.7ILtrails.com)
We set the clinic early specifically so you can bring your horse along and have the rest
of the day to enjoy riding the 40 miles of trails! Clinic Fee is $25, $10 extra if you
plan to also ride the trails. Overnight hookups are available for $15 (contact ranch to
book a site). I will be stay as long as needed after the clinic to answer any questions
not covered and, for those interested, give consultations and trim your horse (for an
additional fee). Contact Tiffany at stickertx@hotmail.com to pre register. Directions: http://7iltrails.com/locationmap.htm
June 22nd, Sunday afternoon 1-4pm Mena,
Arkansas--- I'll be having a benefit clinic for Proud Spirit Equine Sanctuary www.horsesofproudspirit.com ...one of the
few true equine sanctuaries in the United States. All proceeds from this clinic will go to
Proud Spirit!
Located on 320 scenic acres in the Ouachita Mountains, one visit and you'll agree...it's
heaven on earth for horses! The town of Mena and the Ouachita National Forest are
beautiful places to spend some time this summer, so fit in a vacation and come support a
great cause while are in the area!
As all horse owners know, "No Hoof, No Horse!" so this will be a "Healthy
Hoof Clinic" where you can become more hoof savvy. Ask any questions you have on
anything from chronic thrush, quarter or toe cracks, navicular, laminitis, ringbone,
abcesses, thin soles, sensitivity, brittle hooves, etc. Learn about natural trimming and
how to successfully keep your horses barefoot, just how diet and stress can affect the
hoof, how to "read the hoof" and spot early warning signs before they become
issues. After the clinic I'll be available as long as necessary to answer further
questions, give consultations, trim horses, and free hoof boot fittings.

June 21, 2008 - I will be having a mini clinic at
the at the "Honey Do Ride" held at Honey Creek Conservation Area in Filmore,
Missouri. Will be available after the clinic for consultations and trimming as well as
Hoof Boot fitting.
Trim Workshop- Stockdale, TX (outside San
Antonio) July 19th. We'll be starting later in the afternoon and going on into the evening
to avoid the heat, plus be in the shade and I'll bring some fans. Deadline to register is
July 5th. Click the link to register online. http://www.hoovesgonewildnet/id4.html

- Filmmaker, author, and all around good guy, Joe Camp, has a new
book coming out this April called "The Soul of A Horse: Life Lessons from the
Herd". It's a wonderful thought provoking read that helps give horses a voice. To
learn more and to order a copy please visit www.thesoulofahorse.com
- The Drabek herd is growing! My wife and I are proud to announce we
are expecting our third child (last but not least!), due early fall. The baby's big
brother and big sister are excited and anxiously awaiting his or her arrival! Tiffany says
she is prepared for all the "barefoot and pregnant" comments that come with the
territory when you are married to a barefoot trimmer! :)
