Our Morgan gelding Scout...the one who
thankfully started me on my journey into
natural trimming. Though the pic is hazey since it was taken at dusk, it's one of
my favorites.

Natural trimming has gained more and
more believers from vets, top trainers and clinicians, farriers, horse owners world wide.
Barefoot horses are competing in every event you can think of and the number is growing.
Horses that are lucky enough to be given the physiologically correct hooves they need and
deserve will have a long lifetime of soundness to show for it.
Why do horse owners need to learn more about their horses hooves? Isn't that what your farrier
is for? Consider that a leading cause of death in horses is laminitis, second only to
colic...and lameness is the leading health issue equine vets deal with...and it is estimated
close to 90% of lameness is hoof related...it stands to reason, whether you shoe or not, the
more you learn about the equine hoof the better off your horse will be!
My Articles & Links page is a good place to start learning more! The more educated you are
on this subject the more successful and happy your horse (and you!) will be!

Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is getting a study underway on Natural
Hoof Care and Laminitis/Founder http://www.hoofrehab.com/AuburnUvetschool.htm
I'm now a member of the American Hoof Associationwww.americanhoofassociation.org
I'd been meaning to get everything sent off to the
AHA for a very long time and finally got it done! I hope this will serve my clients well
and will offer yet another way for me to continue my
education and stay current on research.
There are some new barefoot articles out there...
The November AQHA Journal had an article "Barefoot Trim" and The December issue
of Equus "A Natural Approach to Navicular Syndrome" which mentions Greg
Sokoloski and the Houston Mounted Patrol and the work they've done there with their
horses. Good work! |

Filmmaker, author, and all around good guy, Joe Camp, has a new book called
"The Soul of A Horse: Life Lessons from the Herd". To learn more please visit
www.thesoulofahorse.com. While there be sure to check out his "Paddock
Paradise" and how he keeps his horses happy and entertained, even when living
on small acreage!

"natural" hoof.
Thats the way he was made and thats the way he should go."
